February 27, 1999 HOOSIERS BEAT PITTSBURGH AGAIN
BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Indiana University baseball team won its second consecutive game over the University of Pittsburgh, defeating the Panthers 15-8 at Sembower Field.
The Hoosiers (4-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, capped off by a three-run home-run by Jason Williams. Designated hitter Dan Haegele had a busy day as well, scoring four times.
Three IU pitchers combined to give up seven earned runs, while striking out seven. Brad Edwards was the starter, lasting three innings and giving up four runs, three earned. From there Nick Otte came in for four innings and gave up four runs and struck out three. Fred Graf closed out the game, striking out three and not allowing a run.
The series wraps up tomorrow at noon at Sembower Field.
