Homestead, Fla. - The Indiana baseball team, down 5-1, plated eight runs in the seventh inning for a 10-5 win over Quinnipiac. It was the Hoosiers first win on their spring trip and they are now 12-5 overll. Quinnipiac dropped to 1-2. It had defeated St. Peter's 6-5 on the same field prior to playing Indiana for its second game of the day.
Nick Otte, IU's third pitcher of the game, came on to pitch in the sixth and picked up his first win of 2000. Otte went 2.2 innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, no walks and struck four.
Quinnipiac, up 2-1, scored three in the sixth as Charles D'Elia clubbed a three-run homer off of Nick Vitielliss' (in relief of IU starter David Ferris) first offering.
Indiana was able to score eight in the seventh on four hits as Quinnipiac starter Pat Lynch ran out of gas in facing the first three batters. He walked Benji Clause and John Bestler, and gave up a RBI single to Rich Berich before getting lifted. Lynch's replacements didn't fare any better as Indiana sent 13 batters to the plate. Chris Wilson had a two-run single to give the Hoosiers the lead.
