Dickerson Earns Big Ten Player of the Week Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Alex Dickerson was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday (Mar. 21), the first weekly award of the season and fourth in his career.
The Junior outfield hit .393, reached base at a .452 clip and slugged at a .786 mark, combining for an OPS of 1.238. He also scored seven runs and drove in nine, racking up multiple hits in four games and multiple RBI in three. Dickerson tallied two doubles and three home runs, including a two-homer effort against Dartmouth on Saturday. Dickerson's first home run of the week broke a tie in the 10th inning against UMass on Wednesday, proving to be the game-winning score. With the score tied 2-2 in the eighth inning against Big East foe, Pitt, Dickerson drilled a clutch double into the gap, clearing the loaded bases for three RBI.
The Poway, Calif., native leads the Big Ten with four home runs this season and also ranks among the conference's top 10 in slugging (.554) and RBI (15).
Dickerson and the rest of the Hoosier Baseball team is slated to play four games this week, beginning with a road contest at Ball State on Wednesday. For the weekend, Indiana heads to Evansville on Saturday for a doubleheader with the Purple Aces before returning to Bloomington on Sunday for the home opener, also versus the Purple Aces.
