Hart, Rodrigue Recognized by Conference Office
March 24, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A pair of Hoosiers received conference accolades on Monday (March 24) as Kyle Hart was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week and Casey Rodrigue was tabbed as a co-Big Ten Player of the Week.
Hart turned in his third consecutive masterpiece as the Indiana baseball team downed Michigan, 5-1, at Bart Kaufman Field on Saturday afternoon. Hart dominated the Wolverines, striking out seven and giving up just two hits and three walks in seven scoreless innings. In his last three starts, all victories, Hart has allowed just one earned run in 22 innings with 11 hits, 18 Ks and seven bases on balls.
Rodrigue recorded a hit, RBI and run scored in all four game last week; finishing with weekly totals of seven RBI, five runs and a .444 batting average. He provided some pop as well, slugging .611 for the week on the strength of a double and a triple. Rodrigue wreaked havoc on the base paths, too, swiping three bags as the Hoosiers took three of four games against #9 Louisville and Michigan.
