Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana Baseball team lost a close one today to the Western Michigan Broncos at Sembower Field, 6-4.
After Western Michigan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, IU managed to tie it up in the third but could not get any closer. Bronco pitcher Josh Clark pitched 5.2 innings giving up just two runs and striking out five Hoosiers.
Senior RF Doug DeVore led the Hoosiers going 3-5 with two doubles. Fellow senior Brandt Childs went 2-3 with a run as Indiana lost only its third game of the season.
Senior Chad Smith picked up his third loss and falls to 3-3 on the season. Smith pitched eight full innings allowing five runs, seven hits, and three walks while striking out eight Broncos.
With the loss, IU drops to 17-4 overall, while WMU jumps to 5-9. Both teams are back in action tomorrow playing a double header at Sembower Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
