Sunday Baseball Game Cancelled Due to Rain
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sunday's series finale between the Indiana baseball team and Minnesota has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The game will not be made up. The Hoosiers and Golden Gophers split the season-opening series 1-1.
Eric Arnett pitched a brilliant complete game, matching a career high with 10 strikeouts, to lead Indiana to a 3-2 victory over No. 25 Minnesota (14-7, 1-1 Big Ten) on Saturday. Arnett allowed just two hits over his final six innings of work and struck out a pair of hitters in both the eighth and ninth, including the final batter of the game, to finish off the victory. Alex Dickerson hit an opposite-field, two-run homer in the sixth to give the Hoosiers (8-15, 1-1) the win.
In the opener, Derek McCallum had three hits and scored twice for Minnesota, while A.J. Pettersen had two hits and scored three times in the Golden Gophers' 12-5 win over Indiana on Friday. Jake Dunning had a pair of hits and drove in two runs in the loss.
Indiana has a pair of midweek, non-conference matchups on tap. The Hoosiers will play host to Chicago State on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sembower Field before traveling to Cincinnati to play the Bearcats on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. GameTracker and Live Audio will be available for both games on IUHoosiers.com
