The Indiana baseball team (11-8, 1-0 Big Ten) will look to extend its winning streak to eight games in a doubleheader against Michigan State on Saturday. Freshman Matt Bashore (3-1, 1.63 ERA) is slated to face fellow lefty Jon Kibler (1-2, 5.04) in the first game, while Eric Arnett (1-0, 4.66) will face Kyle Korcoran (0-0, 5.40) in the second. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. EDT.

Yesterday, Indiana extended its winning streak to seven games with a walk-off, 2-1 victory over Michigan State in the Hoosiers' Big Ten opener. Jon Fixler drove home Chris Hervey with a one-out single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth to ice the victory for IU. Tyler Tufts allowed just one run in 8 2/3 innings for the home squad.

The Hoosiers scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth after Hervey led off the inning with a soft line drive that fell just in front of a diving Dennis Jones. Hervey advanced to second on a groundout to first by Keith Haas and then Evan Crawford was intentionally walked. Fixler followed up with a single through the middle on a 1-1 pitch and Hervey motored around to score the winning run.

Michigan State broke up Tufts' shutout bid in the top of the ninth with a two-out rally. Eli Boike started things off with a bouncer through the right side. Then Eric Roof roped a single of his own to right. Boike rounded second and headed for third, and the throw from Hervey sailed wide of the cutoff man to score Boike and tie the game at 1. After Dennis Jones reached on an infield single, Chris Roberts roped a line drive directly at Haas to end the inning.
