DeMuth is Big Ten's Freshman of the Week for Second Straight Week
April 4, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana baseball player Dustin DeMuth picked up his second consecutive Freshman of the Week honor on Monday (Apr. 4) after hitting .500 in Indiana's series victory at Michigan over the weekend.
The infielder also reached base at a .571 clip and slugged .667 to combine for an OPS of 1.238. DeMuth also scored two runs and drove in three in the series. With at least one hit in each conference game, including a 4-for-4 performance in Game 1, and two hits in each of the Hoosiers' two non-conference contests, DeMuth extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
This marks the third time a first-year player for IU has taken home this weekly conference award. DeMuth did so last week and Ty Downing was honored as such on Feb. 28.
