Indiana Baseball To Make Big Ten Network Debut Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team will make its Big Ten Network debut on Saturday, April 12, as the Network will cover both games of a doubleheader against Iowa. The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes will do battle beginning at noon ET. Admission is FREE for all fans to come out and support the Hoosiers in the first BTN broadcast from Sembower Field.
Mike Crispino will handle the play-by-play for the contest, while Scott Pose will serve as the Big Ten Network analyst. Each game will be seven innings in length, and there will be 30 minutes between games on Saturday.
IU enters the weekend as one of the top offenses in the conference, as the Hoosiers lead the league in slugging percentage and are second in the Big Ten in batting average. Sophomore catcher Josh Phegley is one of the top hitters in the league as well, as his .434 average is best in the league and he is in the top five in slugging, on-base percentage, runs, RBI and doubles this year.
Likewise, lefty ace Matt Bashore has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the conference. The sophomore leads the league with 49 strikeouts and is second with his 1.56 ERA on the year. The Hoosiers are tied for fifth in the conference entering the third weekend of Big Ten play.
IU and Iowa will also square off at 3 p.m. on Friday in the series opener and at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the finale of the four-game set. All games will be at Sembower Field and admission is free to all home contests.
