Bloomington, Ind. --Senior RHP Jason Torres (3-0) mowed down 12 Boilermaker batters in eight innings as Indiana knocked off Purdue 18-4 at Sembower Field.

Junior RF Doug DeVore led the Indiana attack with a 2-5 day, including his 13th home run of the year, a three-run shot to right center, as the Hoosiers upped their record to 23-6 overall and 2-3 in the Big Ten.

Indiana raced out of the gate with a run in the first and five more in the second off starter Russ Morgan (1-3). With the bases loaded and no out in the second, 2B Benji Clause singled to center, scoring CF Jason Williams and LF Tim McNab. Three batters later, with Clause on second and Ryan Schade on third, DeVore unloaded on Morgan's first pitch to give Indiana a 6-0 lead.

DeVore's home run puts him tied for seventh in the Indiana record book for single season home runs. The Dublin, Ohio native now has 22 for his three-year Indiana career.

The long ball was not limited to DeVore as four other Hoosiers cleared the Sembower Field fences today. McNab hit his second of the year in the third, senior 3B Frank O'Connell drilled a two-run shot of his own in the fourth and sophomore DH Dan Haegele took one deep off Carlos Gomez in the sixth. Senior C Brandt Childs finished the long ball exhibition with a solo shot of his own two pitches after Haegele's shot.

The Boilermakers (11-16, 1-4) were led by 1B Travis Dorsch and 2B Ryan Bettencourt. Dorsch came off the bench for two hits, including a double, while Bettencourt went 2-4 with an RBI.

The series continues tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Sembower Field.
