BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Indiana Baseball hosts a midweek contest against the Indiana State Sycamores (26-7) on Wednesday (Apr. 11) at 3:05 pm. It marks the start of an eight-game homestand for the Hoosiers (14-18, 5-4 Big Ten).
Indiana is expected to send left-handed freshman Collin McEnery (1-0, 2.25) to the mound while the Sycamores counter with a freshman of their own in RHP Kyle Rupe (5-0, 2.20).
McEnery has tossed just eight innings this season, but owns the a team-best 2.25 ERA. He has also seen time in the batting order, driving in three runs this season. Rupe's produced some good numbers during his rookie campaign as well, entering Wednesday's contest with a 5-0 record and 2.20 ERA in nine appearances (six starts) spanning 32.2 innings.
It will be the 96th meeting between the Sycamores and Hoosiers in a series that dates back to 1898. Indiana leads the all-time series by a 54-40-1 margin. Indiana State picked a win earlier this season in Terre Haute, however, coming out on top 13-8 on March 7. IU won 6-3 in Bloomington on April 13 of last season, with the teams splitting their 16 games played since the start of the 2000 season.
The Sycamores bring along a high-powered offense, ranking sixth nationally with a 7.7 runs per game average. Their .313 batting clip slots them 13th. Don't overlook the ISU pitching though, owners of a 2.81 team ERA, good for 16th in all of Division-I baseball.
