BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's scheduled game against Ball State on Wednesday afternoon has been canceled due to poor field conditions at Ball Diamond in Muncie. The game is not expected to be rescheduled.

The first-place Hoosiers have won nine of their last 11 contests and will enter this weekend's home series against Penn State with a 6-2 Big Ten record ¬- tied with Minnesota for best in the league. Indiana and PSU will do battle on Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) at Sembower Field, where admission is free to all fans.

IU took three games at Iowa on the strength of impressive starting pitching over the weekend, topping the Hawkeyes 6-2, 5-1 and 8-4. Blake Monar and Eric Arnett each threw complete games and Matt Bashore went 8 1/3 innings in the victories. Chris Squires, the only man used out of the bullpen, came in to induce a game-ending double play in the Sunday finale, and threw just four pitches. IU enters this weekend at 16-17 with a chance to be at .500 for the first time since the Hoosiers were 3-3 on March 3.
