BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana shortstop Seth Bynum was recognized in the most recent issue of Baseball America as a member of the magazine's Midseason All-America team. In all of the four classes (seniors, juniors, sophomores freshmen), one player for each field position, a designated hitter and a utility player were listed, as well five starting pitchers, a relief pitcher and utility pitcher comprised the team. Bynum was selected as the senior team's shortstop.

"It's great that Seth is getting recognition, because it's certainly well-deserved," head coach Bob Morgan said. "He has played really well for us in all facets of the game -- offensively and defensively and he's our best base runner. His statistics speak for themselves as far as being one of the best players in the country."

In 99 at bats (at the time of the team was released), Bynum had 42 hits for a .422 batting average, the best of any shortstop on Baseball America's Midseason All-America team. Bynum, who was drafted by the Montreal Expos last June, is the only player to represent the Big Ten Conference.

Currently, Bynum leads Indiana and all Big Ten hitters with 32 runs scored, 40 RBI and 17 stolen bases. He is also in the top five in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, total bases and triples heading into this weekend.

Indiana is back in action on Friday in game one of a four-game series with Iowa. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at IU's Sembower Field. Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. and Sunday's finale is also at 1 p.m.
