Cureton, Schwarber Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Justin Cureton and Kyle Schwarber have been selected as this week's Big Ten Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively. Cureton shares the Co-Player of the Week award with Purdue's Eric Charles.
Justin Cureton terrorized the Michigan Wolverines in leading Indiana to a 3-0 road series sweep. The outfielder from Indianapolis batted .583, slugged .667 and reached base at an insane .706 clip while in Ann Arbor. His seven-hit day on Sunday fueled the Hoosiers' doubleheader and series sweep, while also securing Head Coach Tracy Smith's 500th career coaching victory.
For the week, Cureton scored five runs and was a perfect 4-for-4 in stoten base attempts while posting a flawless week defensively in center field. His on-base percentage for the week was just under the .600 mark (.593). Cureton, who has started all 45 games, raised his batting average .22 points this week.
Freshman catcher Kyle Schwarber was a human wrecking ball this week as Indiana won four-of-five games, including a road sweep at Michigan. Overall, Schwarber batted .333 with two homeruns, nine RBI and a double. His power-filled week ended with a slugging percentage of .625 and a .407 on-base percentage. Those numbers climbed even higher over the weekend. During the Wolverine sweep, he hit .500, slugged .786 and reached base at a .588 clip. Schwarber clubbed a homer, drove in five runs and scored five himself while in Ann Arbor.
