Baseball Hosts Weekend Promotions For Northwestern Series

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana baseball team will host several promotions for this weekend's series against Northwestern. IU will take on the Wildcats at Sembower Field on Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.), with Saturday and Sunday's contests televised live on the Big Ten Network. All Hoosier baseball games are free admission at Sembower Field.
On Friday, men's basketball head coach Tom Crean will be throwing out the honorary first pitch, while Saturday will see football coach Bill Lynch throw out the first pitch. Lynch will also join the Big Ten Network broadcast crew during the game.
Saturday will also be U.S. Army Day at Sembower. The Army will host a swearing in ceremony for 100 cadets on the field prior to the game, led by Drill Sergeant Brown. The Army will also bring a climbing wall for pregame use.
Sunday's series finale will see the first 500 fans in attendance receive a free IU t-shirt. The Hoosiers will also celebrate Mother's Day with the mothers of current IU baseball players invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Indiana will also host its regular promotions for all three games. Every Hoosier strikeout will earn fans a t-shirt, and Mother Bear's will give out free food if IU strikes out at least eight opponents. Eight Ks for Indiana earns fans a free order of breadsticks, while 12 Ks gives all fans in attendance a free Snack Attack Pack, which includes pizza, breadsticks, brownies and a drink. Also, Bucceto's home run t-shirts, which also feature Bucceto's gift cards, will be thrown to the crowd after every Hoosier home run.
Saturday and Sunday's games against the Wildcats will be televised live on the Big Ten Network with Tom Werme (p-b-p) and Scott Pose (analyst) providing the call. The Hoosiers enter the weekend at 22-24 overall and 11-6 (fourth place) in conference action, 2 1/2 games behind first-place Illinois. Northwestern is 12-30 overall with a 3-13 mark in the Big Ten. The series marks the first of two straight home series to close out the Big Ten season for Indiana.
