Indiana House of Representatives Honors IU Baseball

Bloomington, Ind. - The Indiana House of Representatives passed a resolution that honored the 2013 Indiana University baseball team for winning the Big Ten Championship and becoming the first Big Ten team since 1984 to make the College World Series.
The resolution was authored by Representatives Peggy Mayfield and Matt Pierce and was formally presented to Head Coach Tracy Smith and the team prior to the Sunday, May 4th contest against Purdue.
"I was thrilled to spend my Sunday afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field presenting Coach Smith and the 2013 IU baseball team with a resolution I authored to honor their record shattering season," said Rep. Mayfield. "This team has put the Hoosiers on the map when it comes to America's greatest pastime by finishing the 2013 season with a record of 49 wins over Division I opponents. Continuing to impress, the Hoosiers are currently ranked 11th overall. Coach Smith and the entire team have made their fans, university and community very proud, and they truly deserve recognition on this special day."
Each member of the 2013 Indiana baseball team were provided a copy of the resolution, while a Tracy Smith received a framed copy during the pregame ceremony at Bart Kaufman Field.
The Hoosiers next play Penn State on Friday at 6:30 ET in University Park, Pa.
