May 10, 1999 HOOSIERS WIN AT MICHIGAN 4-3
Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The Indiana baseball team reamoined in fourth place in the Big Ten with a 4-3 win over Michigan while meant a split in the four-game series.
Doug DeVore had a rbi single in the first and Mark Minor had another in the second. Ryan Schade had an rbi ground out in the second to make it 3-0.
Michigan cut the lead to 3-2 but Frank O'Connell hit a solo home run in the sixth to make it 4-2.
UM'S Brian Bush added a solo home run in the seventh to cut the lead to one but Iu relievers Fred Graf and Chris Wilson shut the Wolverines down the rest of the way.
Chad Smith was the winning pitcher while Wilson earned his eighth save of the season. O'Connell had three hits on the day as Indiana had nine in the game.
The Hoosiers are now a game behind Michigan and a game ahead of Illinois in the race for two spots in the conference tournament.
