Friday's Baseball Contest With MSU Moved to 1 p.m.
May 14, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Officials from Indiana and Michigan State have elected to move Friday's (May 15) afternoon contest to 1 p.m. ET due to impending weather in Southern Indiana. The contest had been scheduled for 3 p.m. The two teams will also consider the possibility of playing a doubleheader on Friday should Saturday's forecast deteriorate.
"After consulting with [Michigan State] Coach [Jake] Boss, we feel that playing at 1:00 is in the best interest of both teams," Indiana head coach Tracy Smith said. "With a Big Ten Championship on the line, we want to do everything we can to insure that we play all three games of this series. By moving the game ahead two hours, we open up a number of options so that will happen."
Indiana opened the series with a walk-off, 6-4 victory over Michigan State, as Jerrud Sabourin hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Hoosiers to the victory. At 15-6, Indiana is currently in third place in the conference, one game behind conference leader Minnesota and one-half game behind second-place Ohio State.
