BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Third baseman Dustin DeMuth was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday (May 16), his third such recognition this season. The LaPorte, Ind., native also won the award in back-to-back weeks on March 28 and April 4.

DeMuth helped Indiana to a three-game sweep over conference-leading Michigan State. The team leader in hits batted .500 in the series with multiple base knocks in each game. He also scored five runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the 15th inning of Game 2. The freshman is hitting .368 on the season, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten.

The Hoosier freshman class has gathered six weekly conference laurels this season. In addition to DeMuth's trio of recognitions, Joey DeNato has two and Ty Downing was honored once.
