Hoosiers Add Two Committments
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University head baseball coach Bob Morgan announced addition of two outstanding high school prospects to the 2005 incoming class on Tuesday. Jonathon Fixler (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield HS) and Billy Craig (Monroeville, Ind./Heritage HS) will enroll at IU this fall.
Catcher Riverwood, Ill. Deerfield High School
A two-year letterwinner at Deerfield for head coach Kevin Marsh ... Listed as one of the top 100 area players by the Chicago Sun Times in 2004 ... Also included in the top 100 Midwest Prospects by the Chicago White Sox ... Invited to the Midwest Area Code games ... Named Deerfield High School's Defensive Player of the Year in 2003 ... Played for the Summer Lake Forest American Legion Team and batted .422 with seven home runs and 35 RBI over 25 games ... Also earned two letters in football ... Selected first-team All-State by the Illinois High School Association at quarterback as a junior and senior ... Chosen All-Conference, All-Area and Offensive Player of the Year both seasons as well ... Parents are Ken and Julie Fixler.

Outfield/Pitcher Monroeville, Ind. Heritage High School
A four-year letterwinner for head coach Dean Lehrman at Heritage ... Earned All-Conference honors at right field in 2003 ... As of May 19, sported a .436 batting average to go with four home runs and six doubles ... Also competed in football for four years and in basketball for two years ... Parents are Bill and Becky Craig.
Coach Morgan on Billy Craig:
"Billy has tremendous arm strength. He can play in the outfield, and also has a big upside as a pitcher. His best days are ahead of him, and he is only going to get better as he becomes more polished at the next level. "
Billy Craig on choosing IU:
"I want to be a dentist, and Indiana University is a school that I can attend to compete in the sport of baseball and get the best possible education, which will get me where I wan to be in life.
