BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana head coach Bob Morgan has announced the signing of Chris McCombs and David Trager to continue their baseball careers at Indiana University. McCombs and Trager are both recent graduates of Louisville's Ballard High School.

Chris McCombs • Right-handed Pitcher • Louisville, Ky. (Ballard High School)
A three-year letterwinner for head coach Greg Gilbert at Ballard High School in Louisville, Ky. ... Nominated to the All-District and All-Region teams as a senior ... Pitched and played first base ... Hit .481 and belted five home runs as a junior ... Also compiled an ERA of 2.36 ... Played football for two seasons in high school ... Coach Morgan on Chris McCombs:
"Chris has a chance to have an immediate impact next season. He throws in the high 80s and has command of three pitches. He's a great competitor on the mound who hates to lose. We look for him to pick up a lot of innings for us next year."

    McCombs on Choosing IU:
"I chose to come to Indiana University because I felt like it would be a great opportunity for me to play baseball and get a great education. I am really excited about the upcoming year."

David Trager • Infielder • Louisville, Ky. (Ballard High School)
Lettered for years for head coach Greg Gilbert at Ballard High School in Louisville, Ky. ... Named to the All-District team in 2003 and 2004 ... Also a member of the All-Seventh Region team and was selected a Seventh Region All-Star in 2003 and 2004 ... Competed in football for three years and golf for one year ... Played his summer baseball for Derby City League ... Parents are Sandra and Scott Trager.

    Coach Morgan on David Trager:
"David's greatest asset is how hard he plays and that he knows how to play the game. He has great instincts and is very fundamentally sound. The best way to describe David is that he's a winner. He'll be a solid baseball player for us who can be counted on everyday to do his job."

    Trager on Choosing IU:
"I chose Indiana University because I though it would be a good school to play baseball at and Coach Morgan seemed like a good coach that I would want to play for."
