Crimson Outlasts Cream, 2-1
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana baseball team's annual Cream versus Crimson series kicked off on Monday afternoon with the Cream squad outlasting the Crimson club for a 2-1 victory. The game is the first of five that will be played this week as a finale to the Hoosiers' fall workouts.
Pitching set the tone in the series opener as the two teams combined for just four hits. Freshman Matt Saba worked five and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit and one run, on his way to the victory. Trevor Hines pitched the final inning and a third en route to the save. Senior righthander Adam Pegg took the loss after giving up just three hits and only one earned run.
Offensively, sophomore Reggie Watson, senior Seth Bynum and senior Ryan Donley collected hits for Cream. Watson also scored two runs and an RBI while Donley drove in a run as well. Sophomore Ryan Parker had the lone hit and RBI for Crimson.
The best-of-five series continued on Tuesday afternoon with game two and game three is scheduled for Wednesday. Games four and five will be played on Sunday in conjunction with IU Baseball Alumni Weekend at Sembower Field.
