BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Indiana Athletics has named freshman pitcher Austin Foote and senior goalkeeper Shannon Flower November Scholar-Athletes of the Month.
Austin Foote: Baseball, Freshman, Business
"Austin is a freshman from Lake Zurich, Ill., and a direct admit to Kelley School of Business," said John Sare, IU Academic Advisor. "Austin came to IU with high expectations from his parents and coaches and he has more than exceeded those expectations. He is taking six classes this semester, all required general education and I-Core prerequisites. He is on track to potentially score a 4.0 GPA in his first semester. Austin is courteous, respectful and engaging with a maturity beyond his years. He fulfills his athletics responsibility without issue or incident, making him a leader on the field among a large freshmen class. Austin typifies the ideal Indiana Student-Athlete: hardworking, productive, responsible and respectful."
Shannon Flower: Women's Soccer, Senior, Environmental Management
"Shannon accepted the role of Academic Captain for the team this year and has served as my second in command on the academic front," said Eileen O'Rourke, IU Academic Advisor. "She took the initiative to establish team and class goals this season and has been a great academic support to her teammates. I challenged the soccer team this Fall to try and exceed their previous semester GPA's. Shannon confidently responded to this challenge, affirming that she would earn a perfect 4.0. As we head into finals week, Shannon is on track to earn a 4.0 this semester and I could not be more proud of all that she has accomplished during her four years at IU."
