AUBURN (2001-04) Despite missing the first 11 games of 2003-04 with a broken foot, Monroe came back to start 14 of Auburn's last 17 games • tallied a career-high 17 points in a 73-68 loss at Mississippi State on Jan. 31, and he dished out at least five assists in seven straight games from Feb. 14 through March 6 • finished the year with averages of 6.1 points and 3.8 assists • ranked 10th in the SEC in assists in 2002-03 (3.3 per game), highlighted by a nine assist effort at Georgia on Jan. 25, 2003 • in 157 minutes of postseason play (SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament), he had only six turnovers, including four in 113 minutes of three NCAA Tournament games • had 12 points and no turnovers in 35 minutes against eventual national champion Syracuse in the NCAA East Region semifinals • recorded 12 points, three assists and three turnovers in 37 minutes in the 68-62 victory over No. 8 Wake Forest in the second round of the NCAA Tournament • hit all six of his free throws in the final five minutes of the triumph over the Demon Deacons • closed the year by averaging 6.2 points, 2.4 points and 3.3 assists while playing in 31.3 minutes per game, second on the team • started nine of 17 games as a freshman, averaging 2.7 points per game • season-high performances both came against Mississippi State (11 points and eight assists).
