COLUMBUS, Ohio -Junior Jon Diebler scored 21 points and sophomore William Buford added 16 as host Ohio State defeated Indiana, 79-54, Wednesday night in Value City Arena in Columbus.

"We got very quiet very early on in the game," said IU Coach Tom Crean. "Leadership is not going to come from one person, not the way this team is built. It's got to come collectively."

The Hoosiers struck first on a layup by junior Jeremiah Rivers to take a 2-0 lead, but OSU took advantage of 14 first half IU turnovers going on a 22-2 run before leading 38-20 at halftime.

The Hoosiers were led by sophomore Verdell Jones III who had 22 points. Freshman Christian Watford had 11 points. Rivers had four points, eight rebounds and five assists. Senior Devan Dumes added six points and three rebounds.

"I'm really disappointed in our toughness," added Crean. That's not the way we practice and not the way we played against Michigan."

The Hoosiers return home for a Saturday night contest against Illinois. Tip-off is at 8 p.m., in Assembly Hall.
