UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Indiana men's basketball team placed five players in double figures to earn an 84-74 road win over Penn State on Saturday, Jan. 13. The victory, which was the first on the road for IU this season, moved the Hoosiers to 12-4 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in conference play. PSU is now 10-6 (1-2 Big Ten).

Rod Wilmont led the way for the Hoosiers setting career-highs in both points and rebounds with 25 and 12, respectively, for his third double-double of the year. Wilmont went 9-for-23 in the game, including 7-for-17 from 3-point land. He had 20 points in the first half on 6-for-12 shooting from downtown, becoming the first Hoosier to score 20 in a half since Marco Killingsworth had 20 in the second half against Illinois on Jan. 17, 2006.

D.J. White had a double-double for IU with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the contest, which was his fourth of the season. A.J. Ratliff and Armon Bassett had 14 points apiece, with both doing the bulk of their scoring in the second half. Earl Calloway added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists in the game. It is the fourth time this year that IU has placed five players in double figures, and the Hoosiers are 4-0 in those contests.

Leading 8-5 at the 16:04 mark, the Nittany Lions embarked on a 9-0 run, with four of the points coming inside from Geary Claxton. But a pair of putbacks by White stopped the bleeding, and trimmed the PSU lead to 17-9 with 12:15 to play.

The Hoosiers went on an 8-0 run beginning at the 11:10 mark with 3s from Wilmont and Calloway, but the Nittany Lions rebounded with a 10-0 run of their own to open up a 32-20 lead with 6:08 to play in the half.

Indiana responded with a 20-9 run to end the half and trim the deficit to 41-40 heading into the locker room. Wilmont had a trio of 3s in the run to enter the locker room with 20 points on the game on 6-for-12 shooting from downtown.

The Hoosiers used a big second half to come away with the victory in the contest. After trailing coming out of the locker room, the IU defense tightened and Indiana took its first lead with 10:05 to play on a layup by White. The Hoosiers extended their lead to a game-high eight on a 3-pointer by Bassett with 3:27 to play, making the score 69-61 in favor of the visitors.

The Nittany Lions would not go away, keeping the game within two possessions for most of the remainder of the game. Bassett hit a pair of free throws with 46 seconds to play to make it a three-possession ballgame at 78-71. Two shots from the line by Calloway extended the IU lead to 80-72 with 35 to play, and Indiana was able to hold on the rest of the way to earn the crucial road victory.

The Hoosiers return to Assembly Hall for another conference matchup, as they host Iowa (9-7, 1-1) on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.
