    Indiana Head Coach Tom Crean

On not being able to slow down Northwestern in the first half:
"That's exactly right. We don't have a toughness about us that is there everyday. You have to have people that, when things are not going right like they didn't the last couple games that we have gotten beat, are able to bring the team together.

"But we didn't come out with a `street fight' mentality at all to start the game. We eventually settled in, and I think from the 15-minute mark of the first half on we won the game. We just have to grow out of that and get better."

On the flow of the game:
"The game really turned into a driving-type game and getting the ball inside and moved around. We just are not a good enough shooting team without Matt Roth and Maurice Creek. We took some settled three's and it is a challenge to the guys right now to understand that we have to get out of our comfort level. They all have buttons to be pushed and they don't push enough of them on their own. We played hard today, but we did not come out with the mentality that we were going to get into them. The bottom line was that we had to defend the three-point line and keep the pressure up. They have shot over 100 more three's than us, and there is a reason for that. But we needed to get our hands extended and we didn't."

    On Verdell Jones III's game:
"He's continuing to get better and we have to find ways to get him the ball. I thought we had a pretty decent day out of the point guard position. Verdell is certainly getting a lot of things done by getting to the foul line and playing through the bumps and bruises of conference play. There will come a time where the experience of going through this will help us and we will have guys on the front line that will consistently make plays for us."
