Indiana Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
On the game:
"You always worry about emotions and to start the game tonight defensively, Penn State got the ball where they wanted it. We had watched a lot of tape of them against Ohio State and from that game we had a lot of respect for them. (Geary) Claxton is very good and is an all-conference player. Once we got through the emotions and started playing defense against the zone and hitting the 3s. I thought we got the ball inside well and we got the ball on offensive rebounds. For three straight games we have done a good job getting after missed shots. Another important factor is that we kept these kids rested. Assists were great and we had 23 of them. Assists mean that you are getting your shots off of passes. Our kids really executed well on offense."
On the seniors:
"I think that was the story of the night. Rod, Earl, and Errek have been the cornerstone of the program and the kids in the locker room really look up to them. The greatest attribute a player can have is the respect of their teammates and coaches."
On the offense :
"When teams go against you with zone, you have to be able to shoot 3s. If we spent all of our time trying to get it inside, it would be going against our grain. This team's strength is 3-point shooting. It doesn't matter if they are playing man or zone, we try and have the open man hit the 3. Tonight, Earl was it and if A.J. is at the 3-point line he can make it."
Redshirt Senior Guard Roderick Wilmont
On the game :
"To start the game, my defense was not up to par and I really tried to go out there and get my defense back to par. It was emotional for a little bit and once I started to calm down it started to work."
On Coach Sampson:
"Coach Sampson has done a lot for me. He turned me into a better player and he really taught me the game. I'll always keep it in the back of my mind that it feels really good to end the Indiana career with a 20-win season and to be undefeated at home."
On Earl Calloway:
"Earl brings so much to this team. We all get real energized and having Earl there to hit shots is huge for us. To have Lance hit those two jumpers at the end is great for his confidence going into the postseason."
Senior guard Earl Calloway
On the game:
"I was confident today. Coach has been emphasizing that it is mostly mental and we need to go at it with our all. I came out and played within myself and tried to help the team."
