    Post Game Notes

    • Indiana won its 25th straight home opener, its 13th straight victory in a season opener and the ninth straight win in a season opener for Hoosier Coach Tom Crean.

    • The game was played in front a sellout crowd of 17,383.

    • Indiana is now 1-0 all-time vs. Howard and 3-0 agains the MEAC.

    • With the win, Coach Tom Crean is now 197-121 in 10-plus seasons as a head coach.

    • With IU leading 20-18 with 7:00 left in the half, the Hoosiers went on a 38-11 run over the next 13:30 to lead 58-29 with 14:26 to go in the second half.

    • The Hoosiers' 83-points scored matched their season opening effort of 83 points scored against Northwestern State last season.

    • The 23-point margin of victory is the largest for a Hoosier team under Crean.

    • The Hoosiers had six different players with a blocked shot (Watford, Pritchard, Creek, Rivers, Jones III, and Muniru).

    • With 40 points scored in the first half and 43 in the second, it marked the first time during the Crean Era that IU has scored 40 or more points in both halves of a game.

    • Indiana's 55.7% shooting effort from the field was its second best in the last two seasons. IU shot 58.1% against Chaminade last year.

    • The Hoosiers matched their season high in assists from a year ago with 20 (Ohio State, 1-31-09)

    • Freshman Maurice Creek led the Hoosiers with 17 points and knocked down 7 of 11 shots mad made two of four triples with two assists in his first collegiate start.

    • Freshman Christian Watford had a double-double in his first game, 14-points and 11 rebounds, He made all five of his free throw attempts. Teammate Tom Pritchard had 13 points and 10 rebounds in his career debut last year.

    • Freshman Derek Elston had 14 points and three rebounds off the bench. He made six of seven field goal attempts.

    • Pritchard had 10 points, five rebounds and two assists. He made five of six field goal attempts and had a blocked shot.

    • Sophomore Verdell Jones III had nine points and two assists. He and Pritchard are the only two players who started against Howard and in last year's season opener.

    • Senior Devan Dumes had seven points and three assists off the bench in 14 minutes.

    • Junior Jeremiah Rivers made his first career start and had six points, four boards and four steals.

    • Freshman Jordan Hulls had two points and five assists and did not commit a turnover in 17 minutes of play.

    • Sophomore Matt Roth had two points and two boards.

    • Freshman Bawa Muniru had two points and a block in six minutes.

    • Sophomore Kory Barnett, freshman Bobby Capobianco, sophomore Daniel Moore, senior Tijan Jobe and senior Steven Gambles all saw action.

    • The Hoosiers will host USC Upstate on Monday at 8:30 p.m., in Assembly Hall.
