EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Senior Verdell Jones III led five Hoosiers (3-0) in double-digit points with 17 as the Indiana men's basketball team defeated Evansville in a sold-out Ford Center, 94-73, on Nov. 16, 2011.

Junior Christian Watford recorded 15 points and eight rebounds, freshman Cody Zeller tallied 14 points and nine rebounds, junior Jordan Hulls also scored 14 points and sophomore Will Sheehey added 10 points in the win.

"Our guys were locked in," said head coach Tom Crean. "Preparation was evident from the coaches. It all started on the defensive end with our intensity and our intelligence. We just did a lot of things the right way."

It was the Hoosiers' second true road victory in Crean's four seasons. Indiana has now won three straight by 20 or more points for the first time since December 2007. The 94-point score by the Hoosiers is the most in a road game since November 26, 2005 in a 102-79 win against Western Illinois (courtesy of Stats LLC).

Indiana jumped to a 7-0 lead, led 42-23 with 5:27 left in the first half and the Aces couldn't get closer than 21 in the second half.

Jones III sank 5-of-8 from the field, including tying a career-high 4-of-4 from the 3-point line, and 3-of-5 from the charity stripe for his 17. He added seven assists, five rebounds and two blocked shots. Watford made 5-of-7 from the field, including a pair of 3's, and 3-of-3 from the free throw line for his 15 points. He grabbed eight boards - all on the defensive glass, and tallied one assist and one steal. Zeller made 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line, to go along with nine rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist. Hulls made 5-of-7 from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, extending his current streak to 43. Sheehey's 10 points came off the bench on 3-of-8 shooting from the field with a 3-pointer, and sank 3-of-5 from the free throw line. He also recorded two rebounds, two assists and a block.

The Hoosiers shot 55.9 percent (33-of-59) from the field and 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from beyond the arc. Indiana outrebounded Evansville, 37-32. The Hoosiers outscored the Purple Aces, 40-20, in the paint and netted 22 points off of 16 UE turnovers.

Indiana returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 19, when it plays host to Savannah State in the second game of the Hoosier Invitational in Assembly Hall at 8 p.m. ET on the BTN.
