BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A Lance Stemler 3-pointer with 24 seconds left in the game and a pair of free throws from Roderick Wilmont secured a 73-66 win as the Indiana Hoosiers defeated in-state rival Indiana State on Branch McCracken Court in Assembly Hall on Nov. 17.

After falling behind 5-2 within the first three minutes, the Hoosiers (2-1) used a 31-11 run over a span of more than 13 minutes to take a 33-18 lead on a three-point play by redshirt freshman Joey Shaw with 2:23 to go in the half. The Sycamores (1-1) outscored IU in the final 2:10 by way of three free throws and a layup by Gabriel Moore. However, the Hoosiers maintained a 13-point advantage with a 36-23 lead at the half.

Indiana opened the second half outscoring Indiana State 17-10 to take a 53-33 lead with 12:52 to go in the game. However, the Sycamores put together a 14-3 run, cutting the Hoosiers' lead to nine, 56-47, with 8:02 on the clock. ISU's Cole Holmstrom sank a 3 at the 7:43 mark, cutting IU's lead to six, 56-50. White hit a jumper at the 5:58 mark, Indiana's first field goal since a Stemler layup at 12:52, increasing the Hoosiers' lead back to four, 58-54.

However, the Sycamores made another surge as Tunnell scored on a layup to decrease the deficit back to two, 58-56, with 5:42 to go. A free throw from Calloway put the Hoosiers back up by three, 59-56, but a layup by Adam Arnold cut Indiana's lead to just one, 59-58, with 5:10 left in the game. The Hoosiers used an 8-2 run, sparked by another 3-pointer from Stemler at the 4:55 mark, to take a 67-60 lead with 1:36 to go, which was stopped by ISU's 6-1 run with 51 seconds on the clock. Stemler's fifth 3-pointer of the game, followed by a steal from White, helped seal the 73-66 Hoosier win.

Indiana held the advantage on the floor, outshooting the Sycamores 47.9 percent (23-of-48) to 40.6 (26-of-64) percent. The Hoosiers shot 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the 3-point line and won the battle of the boards, 36-35.
