BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Will Sheehey led four Hoosiers in double-digit points as the Indiana men's basketball team defeated Gardner-Webb, 73-49, in IU's third game of the Hoosier Invitational in Assembly Hall on Monday, Nov. 21.

Sheehey's 15-point night matched the career-high he scored against Savannah State on Saturday, Nov. 19. Freshman Cody Zeller and sophomore Victor Oladipo each scored 13 points, while junior Derek Elston netted 10 points.

The Hoosiers (5-0) opened the game with a 19-4 lead in the nine minutes before the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-3) used a 15-6 run to come within eight, 27-19, with 5:56 to go in the half. Indiana regained a 12-point lead after a pair of free throws from Watford and a jumper from Hulls for a 31-19 lead with 5:08 on the clock. Gardner-Webb cut the lead back to eight, but the Hoosiers used a few trips to the line to take a 34-23 lead into the break.

Indiana clamped down on defense and held the Bulldogs to just four field goals in the first 12-plus minutes of the second half on a 28-8 run to take a 62-31 lead. The Hoosiers maintained at least a 24-point lead for the remainder of game en route to the 73-49 win.

Sheehey made 7-of-11 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and added three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Zeller sank 6-of-8 from the field and added nine boards and one assist. Oladipo made 5-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He also tallied five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Elston sank 3-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He also grabbed nine rebounds in the effort.

The Hoosiers sank 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the field on the night and held Gardner-Webb to just 27.3 percent (6-of-22) shooting from beyond the arc. IU also outscored the Bulldogs, 40-14 in the paint and netted 26 points off of 19 GWU turnovers.

Indiana returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 27, when it plays host to Butler at 7 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network, the final game of the Hoosier Invitational.
