Indiana is now 7-0 at Assembly Hall this season.
IU shot 55.3 percent, the sixth time in eight games that Indiana has shot over 50 percent.
The Hoosiers held advantages over Savannah State in the paint (28-18), points off turnovers (26-13), second-chance points (7-5) and bench points (23-8).
Indiana won the battle of the boards (35-30) for the seventh time this season.
The 21 made free throws by the Hoosiers is a season high.
With the score tied 12-12 at the 14:14 mark in the first half, Indiana embarked on a 10-0 run to take a lead they would not give up over the next 3:13.
IU shot 60.9 percent (14-of-23) in the first half. It marked the second straight half (63.0 percent at Boston College) and the fourth time overall the Hoosiers reached 60 percent in a half this season.
Four Hoosiers reached double figures, led by Verdell Jones III and his 18 points. It marked the second time this season at least four players reached double digits. Six players reached double figures against Northwestern State. Christian Watford scored 14 points and Jordan Hulls and Maurice Creek added 11 apiece.
Jones III reached double figures for the fifth time this season and team-leading 44th time in his career. He also had a season-high eight rebounds with three assists and two steals. Jones now needs 115 points to become the 42nd player in IU history to reach 1,000 career points.
Watford, who played 21 minutes, has scored 10-plus points in all eight games this season and 30 times in his career. He also had three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
Hulls hit all three of his attempts, from downtown, and both free throws. He is now shooting 18-of-31 (58.1 percent) from three-point range this season. Hulls has scored in double figures four times this year and 10 times in his career. He also had three rebounds, two assists and a block, his third straight home game with a block, in 21 minutes.
Creek had three treys and a pair of free throws as well. He has scored in double digits in three straight games, five times this year and 14 times in his career. Creek also had two boards, two assists and a block.
Victor Oladipo collected a team-high 20 minutes off the bench and poured in nine points with a career-high five rebounds. Oladipo was 4-of-6 from the floor and had two steals.
Derek Elson scored six points with three rebounds and one block in 14 minutes off the bench.
Will Sheehey collected four points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in 14 minutes.
Jeff Howard hit two free throws and secured a rebound.
