Indiana vs. IUPUI
Indiana Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
"We were good in a lot of different ways tonight. Obviously, there was a big emphasis on offensive rebounding from the last game. Our kids really responded tonight. We came back and practiced hard on Thursday. We went back and forth on that because I knew we were going to have three games in six days. We're so much of a work in progress in so many different areas because we're all new to each other. We just went after it. We are a team that has to play to its identity every night. We're learning to do that."
On the play of Lance Stemler
"If Lance had missed every shot tonight, I would have thought he was great. Just like the Kentucky game - I thought he was outstanding in the Kentucky game. We live in a society that judges your production in basketball on whether you score points or not. Lance Stemler was outstanding in every area tonight. He just happened to make shots and that was icing on the cake."
"I know plenty of number three and number four players that go hitless. Lance is going to make shots. Just like Kentucky - he was 0-for-7 but he had eight rebounds in that game. He played tough in that game. Lance had to lose himself in the rebounds and loose balls."
"Earl's point guard play - you go back to everything he's gone through to this point and it has made him what he is today. Earl's a good point guard. I expect him to keep getting solid."
"Most teams don't run a weave. It's the first time we've played a team that ran a weave. Most teams guard like we guard. Coach Hunter did a good job of trying to counter everything we did. It was a tough defense to get through. We played about as good as we could play them."
On shooting 51.8 percent from the floor
"It's just a sign that we're running more. We're getting more comfortable with each other. You're offense is as good as your point guard. Earl is a much better point guard today than he was against Butler or Duke."br>
Senior Earl Calloway
On driving the lane
"Coach made an emphasis when we were watching film that they extended out so much, you could penetrate the interior. That's what we tried to do tonight."
On playing IUPUI for the first time
"We look at every game as a battle and we don't take anyone for granted. We just go out and play and try and execute every game."
Junior Lance Stemler
"It felt good. Coach just told me to try and lose myself in other aspects of the game and not think about the shooting as much."
