    LOS ANGELES - Indiana sophomore forward Cody Zeller has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Thursday, Jan. 10 on ESPNU.

    Zeller, a 7-0, forward from Washington, Ind., leads the No. 5/5 Hoosiers (14-1, 2-0 Big Ten) with 16.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Since Zeller, the Preseason National Player of the Year, came to Indiana, the Hoosiers are 41-10 for an .804 winning percentage and lead all Big Six Conference school's in field goal percentage (49.8 percent), 3-point field goal percentage (42.7 percent) and free throw percentage (75.8 percent).

    Zeller leads the Big Ten in free throws made per game (5.3) and attempted (7.4). He is fourth in scoring (16.5), second in rebounds (7.9) and third in field goal percentage (62.7 percent). In 40 minute stats, Zeller leads the Big Ten in points/assists/rebounds per game at 36.9. For his career has made 62.4 percent of his shots, the highest mark ever by an IU player.

    Cody's older brother Tyler was a 2012 Wooden Award All-American for North Carolina.

    Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, the list is made up of 25 student-athletes who, based on their performances in November, December, and the beginning of January, are the frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor.



    The Wooden Award All American Team, consisting of the nation's top 10 players, will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The John R. Wooden Award Player of the Year presented by Wendy's will be announced on ESPN during the Final Four Weekend in Atlanta. The 2013 Wooden Award Gala presented by Wendy's will take place April 11-13, 2013, at The Los Angeles Athletic Club. The Gala will honor the Men's and Women's Wooden Award winners, All Americans and the Legends of Coaching Award winner, Kansas Head Coach Bill Self.
