White Out Scheduled for Saturday Against UConn
Jan. 24, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On Saturday, Jan. 26, against non-conference foe Connecticut, the Indiana men's basketball team will welcome its second and final "White Out" this season. All fans are encouraged to wear white to the game, which will be televised by CBS at 1 p.m. EST.
In the season's first "White Out," a raucous, sell-out crowd cheered the Hoosiers on to a 70-51 victory over arch-rival Kentucky in front of a national audience. It was the fewest points the Hoosiers had allowed to the Wildcats since 1940.
"I thought the atmosphere at the Kentucky game was a big reason for our success," senior Lance Stemler said. "The White Out is a great way to unify our fans and that helps our team in a big way."
Saturday's game against the Huskies will be the third time in the last three years that the two national powers have collided. Indiana topped UConn 77-73 in Hartford last season, though the Huskies topped the Hoosiers 88-80 in Assembly Hall in 2006. Since that game, Indiana is 16-0 at home against non-conference opponents.
