BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior guard Jordan Hulls and sophomore forward Cody Zeller were named to the Capital One District 5 First Team Academic All-District Team, announced by CoSIDA on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Hulls is in his final semester of graduate school at Indiana and is majoring in Athletic Administration, after earning his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in December of 2011. The Bloomington, Ind., native is averaging 11.1 points, 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game. He's shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 48.1 percent from 3 and 73.0 percent at the free throw line. He ranks second in the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage and third in assist/turnover ratio.
Zeller, a 7-0 forward from Washington, Ind. is majoring in Business at IU. The Preseason National Player of the Year leads the Hoosiers with 16.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He leads the Big Ten in defensive rebounds (5.4) and ranks second in rebounding and offensive boards (2.9), fourth in scoring and fifth in field goal percentage. He has posted 11 career double-doubles and registered four in eight Big Ten games. Zeller's 61.0 percent from the field ranks among the top-10 in the country.
Hulls and Zeller are now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 21.
