    THE COACHES
Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008 and he is 6-19 with the Hoosiers. He came to Indiana from Marquette where he was 190-96 (66.4) in nine seasons and made five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2003 Final Four. Purdue's Matt Painter is in his fourth year with the Boilermakers and is 76-46 in four seasons.

    ODDS AND TRENDS
Freshman walkon Broderick Lewis is a 2008 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Of the seven non-scholarship players to suit up for the Hoosiers this season, his 92 minutes played is the second most among that group. He has scored seven points in 16 games and his 13 minutes played against Wisconsin marked his second longest stint on the floor this season. His father, Dwight, is the Director of Graduate School Minority Programs and his mother, Deborah, is an academic advisor in the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences at Purdue.

Defensively, the Hoosiers have limited opponents to 32.1 percent shooting (25-for-78) from three-point range over the last five games.

The Hoosiers' schedule is ranked the second toughest in the country by Sagarin, fourth toughest by Kenpom.com, and seventh toughest in ESPN's RPI.

Freshman Verdell Jones III has averaged 14 points per game in the last five contests. He had a team-high 16 points and three assists against Wisconsin. Over the last 10 games, he is averaging 11 points per contest.

In the last three games, Indiana has made 42 free throws, while its opponents have attempted 42 as well. Indiana was 15 of 19 from the line against Wisconsin.

Freshman Malik Story is averaging 9.7 points per game over the last three contests. He had 11 points against Wisconsin.

For the second straight year, Indiana will play Michigan and Purdue just once. Next year, Indiana will play Michigan State and Penn State only one time.

Purdue will be the eighth nationally ranked team that Indiana has faced this season.

Junior Devan Dumes returned to the lineup on Thursday night and finished with 12 points, while making nine of nine free throws. He is averaging 15.4 points in his last eight games.
