Zeller Earns Seventh Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana freshman forward Cody Zeller has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for a seventh time this year after helping the Hoosiers to wins over No. 5/5 Michigan State and Purdue.
Zeller, who earned the same honor from the league for the weeks of Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19, Jan. 9 and Feb. 13, shares this week's honor with Michigan's Trey Burke. Zeller averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in wins over Michigan State and Purdue. He had 18 points, four rebounds and two steals in a 70-55 win over the Spartans on Tuesday. He made 7-of-12 shots from the field. In an 85-74 win over rival Purdue on Sunday, Zeller recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
On the year, the Washington, Ind., native, leads the Hoosiers with 15.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He's among the best nationally in field goal percentage at 63.5 and leads the Big Ten in the same category.
Zeller and the Hoosiers open the postseason on Thursday, March 8 when they take on Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Indiana and Penn State will tip-off at approximately 1:55 p.m. ET with the game airing live on the BTN and the IU Radio Network.
