    Crean, Zeller Highlight Indiana's Regular Season Honors from the Media

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head coach Tom Crean was selected as the National Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year by ESPN's Jason King, while freshman forward Cody Zeller was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, a Third Team All-American and a First Team All-Big Ten honoree. The Sporting News also named Crean their Big Ten Coach of the Year and Zeller was selected to their National All-Freshman Team and named Co-Big Ten Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Michigan's Trey Burke.

    King also selected junior Christian Watford's buzzer-beater 3-pointer vs. No. 1 Kentucky as his Best Game-Winning Play in yearly King's Court Regular Season Awards. Watford took a pass from senior Verdell Jones III and sank a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give the Hoosiers a 73-72 win over the Wildcats in Assembly Hall on Dec. 10. Watford's shot was up against Anthony Davis' block of John Henson on Dec. 3, Michael Snaer vs. Duke (Jan. 21), Austin Rivers vs. North Carolina (Feb. 8) and Shabazz Napier vs. Villanova (Feb. 20).

    Indiana's game vs. Kentucky was also nominated for Best Game by King, along with Marquette at Georgetown (Jan. 4), UNLV at San Diego State (Jan. 14), Missouri at Kansas (Feb. 25) and Duke at North Carolina (Feb. 8), with the Missouri-Kansas game winning.

    The BTN's Tom Dienhart selected head coach Crean as his Big Ten Coach of the Year, while Zeller earned Freshman of the Year honors. Dienhart also named Zeller to his First Team All-Big Ten. BTN blogger Brent Yarina also named Zeller the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and listed him among Second Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman Team honorees.

    ESPN analyst Dan Dakich also announced his regular season honorees for the Big Ten and selected Zeller has his Co-Freshman of the Year, sharing the honor with Michigan's Trey Burke, and Crean as Big Ten Coach of the Year. He also selected Zeller to his First Team All-Big Ten team.
