Bloomington, Indiana - Indiana University Men's Basketball Coach Tom Crean has announced that Bloomington native Drew Adams, who served as the Coordinator of Basketball Systems for the Hoosiers last season, has been promoted to the position of Director of Operations/Video Coordinator for the program. He replaces Brian Barone who was named assistant coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay earlier this week.

"He has worked very hard to prepare himself for a future in coaching, and we are excited to have him be a part of that at Indiana," said Crean. "I know he has a very bright future and I'm glad it's going to be with us."

In addition to several administrative responsibilities including camps, Adams will be in charge of overseeing all video operations as it pertains to practice and game coverage, opponent film exchange, scouting and other visual training and coaching tools the staff may have.

"It means a lot to me that Coach Crean believes in my work and thinks highly enough of me to offer me this position and opportunity," said Adams. "This is something I have been working toward for a long time and I couldn't be more excited. The technology that college basketball teams use is so important to their day to day success and I realize the tremendous responsibility that comes with this."

Adams came to IU after serving two years as a student assistant at the University of Tennessee. During his time at UT, the Volunteers reached the NCAA Tournament twice and obtained the first number-one ranking in school history (2007-08). Prior to his time in Knoxville, Adams played one year at Iowa under Steve Alford, where current Hoosier assistant coach Tim Buckley also was on the staff. Adams spent two seasons (2004-2006) played at Florida Community College of Jacksonville where he was team captain as a sophomore before transferring to Iowa. He also has coached on the AAU level for the Indiana Elite program.

Adams is a 2004 graduate of Bloomington High School South, where he spent three years playing for head coach J.R. Holmes. During his senior season at South, the Panthers won Conference Indiana and he was selected as team captain, was the team's leading scorer and was an all-conference selection. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Tennessee in 2009.

"It is a dream come true and an honor to be at IU," noted Adams. "My grandparents had season tickets and I would always try to get a ticket to the game. It was always my dream to play here, but that didn't happen. However, to be able to work here is even better because that doesn't have to end in four years."
