April 29, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's basketball program ranked 12th in the nation and third among Big Ten programs for men's basketball attendance averaging 15,259 fans in 18 home games. IU is the only Big Ten program to rank among the top 16 schools in attendance in each of the last 40 seasons.
"It's easy to see that the fan base at Indiana is without question the most loyal in the country," said IU Coach Tom Crean. "Their energy and support is playing a big part in our efforts to restore the championship tradition here at IU."
The Big Ten Conference also led the nation in attendance for the 35th straight year.
Men's basketball attendance for all three NCAA divisions during the 2010-11 season equaled 32,820,701, the fifth-highest all-time.
