INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced attendance numbers for the 2011-12 season with Indiana men's basketball ranking No. 9 with an average of 16,462 (total 312,770) fans per game in Assembly Hall.

"Finishing in the top 10 in the country in attendance was a big goal for us," said IU Coach Tom Crean. "Our fans have been phenomenal and their energy and loyalty have played a big role in our resurgence. We're very close to having one of the toughest tickets around and that would put us in the top five in the country."

As a conference, the Big Ten led the nation for the 36th consecutive year in league attendance with a total and conference-high 2,856,785 fans and averaged 12,868 per game. Indiana was one of three B1G programs among the top 10 with Wisconsin at No. 5 (17,181 per game) and Ohio State at No. 8 (16,511 per game).
