    Big Ten Men's Foreign Tour Team Posts First Win

    Park Ridge, IL - The Big Ten Men's Foreign Tour team picked up their first win on the tour by defeating the Montan Basket Bears 64-51 in Kapfenberg, Austria. The win improves their record to 1-2.

    Purdue sophomore guard Maynard Lewis led the Big Ten Foreign Team with 15 points, including a five-for-eight performance from beyond the arc. Lewis has now scored in double figures in two of the three contests played on the tour. Wisconsin junior forward Andy Kowske and Michigan State junior forward Mike Chappel each scored 10 points in the win. Kowske is the team's leading scorer on the tour as he has averaged 12 points in three games. Indiana's Kirk Haston added six points.

    The Big Ten team's shooting improved as they shot 43 percent from the field and 47 percent from three-point range against Montan. The squad shot, on average, 36.5 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three in the first two games.

    The Big Ten Team will return to action on August 12, taking on the UBC Stahlbau Oberwart team in Oberwart, Austria.
