BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana basketball head coach Tom Crean spoke to a crowd of over 1,000 students, fans and supporters Thursday night at the IU Auditorium. The evening got started with a pep rally out side the auditorium with prizes and music and members of the 2010-11 men's basketball team signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

Coach Crean took the take at the auditorium shortly after 7:30 p.m. and talked to students, discussing all of the tremendous opportunities and resources that are available at Indiana University.

"I like being around people that go after things they want with energy," Crean said. "And I want to be at an Indiana University that is ready to get back to winning championships."

Here's a link to a highlight video that Coach Crean showed to the crowd to start his lecture.

He then went down a list of characteristics in people that not only apply to the type of people he looks for as head coach, but also to students and people in the professional world.

Questions that he suggested people ask themselves included:

    • What is your shot-making ability?
    • Are you a good teammate?
    • Can you rebound?
    • Can you create your own opportunities?
    • What is your speed and explosion?
    • What is the person's toughness like?
    • Can you make good decisions?

The floor was then opened up for those in attendance to ask questions directly to Coach Crean. Among the highlights during the Q & A was Coach Crean announcing that Hoosier Hysteria will take place Oct. 15 and that he plans to add one more exhibition game to be played on Nov. 8 against an opponent to be announced. An exhibition game against Franklin College on Nov. 3 was announced earlier this week.

Afterwards, coach signed autographs and took pictures with those that wanted them in the lobby of the auditorium.
