    Athlon Has Hoosiers Ranked Eighth In Preseason Poll

    Bloomington, Indiana - The Indiana men's basketball team is picked to win the Big Ten Conference and is ranked eighth nationally in the Athlon Sports Preseason College Basketball magazine.

    Senior D.J. White was named second team preseason All-American and was rated as the third best post player in the country. White averaged 13.8 points and 7.3 rebounds last season.

    Freshman Eric Gordon also was rated among the "Super 6" freshman in the country. The Indianapolis native also was named the preseason Newcomer of the Year in the conference. He also was rated as the top freshman shooting guard in the country. As a senior, the McDonald's All-American averaged 29.2 points and 6.5 rebounds.

    Gordon and White also were named preseason first team All-Big Ten. Sophomore Armon Bassett earned third team honors. Bassett averaged 9.5 points a season ago.

    The publication also lauded Indiana for posting the 10th best recruiting class in the country.
