Bloomington, Indiana - They have been here before as recruits, but Friday night, six members from this year's men's basketball team will be making their first public appearance in the Cream and Crimson at Hoosier Hysteria presented by Smithville. The men's and women's basketball teams will be signing autographs at 6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall Lobby and the volleyball team will take on Iowa at 5:30 p.m. The men's team is scheduled to take the floor at approximately 8:30 p.m. after the women are introduced and have a workout at 7:45 p.m. Admission is free but fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item.

Here are some of the players thoughts as they look forward to Friday evening.

    Christian Watford
On being at Hoosiers Hysteria last year and what the experience was like:
"It was crazy. I'm from Birmingham, Ala., so I don't really see stuff like that too much. Maybe for football but not for basketball so it was great."

On looking forward to run out onto the floor for the first time:
"I'm really looking forward to it. It is something that I've always wanted to do and dreamed of as a kid so I think it will be great."

On who is going to win the dunk contest:
"Of course I'm going to say myself. It's going to be fun to watch and we'll have to see who comes out on top."

    Bobby Capobianco
On coming to Hoosier Hysteria as a high school senior last year and then getting to be a part of it this year:
"Last year when I came and watched, it felt like my turn was so far away. I remember sitting there and watching those guys and I was thinking that it was never going to come, but now it's finally here. It is something that we all are looking forward to and something that I think we have all been working for since we got here."

Who is the favorite in the three-point and slam dunk contest:
"I'm going to have to stay loyal to my roommate and say that Christian (Watford) is going to win the dunk contest. I think he's going to break something out that a lot of people haven't seen before. As for me, I might get into some of the shooting contests, but we'll see when Friday gets here. As for the favorite in the three-point contest, I will have to go with Jordan (Hulls). I've been watching that kid shoot for three or four years and I don't think I've ever seen him miss. That's who I would pick."

    Jordan Hulls
On the first time he ever attended a Midnight Madness event at Indiana:
"The first time I ever came was when I was about seven years old and I came with my parents and my brother. It only cost a canned good to get in so we thought we would come and watch the Hoosiers play a little bit."

On the excitement to be able to run out onto the floor for the first time as a Hoosier on Friday:
"I'm very excited, especially since I've grown up in Bloomington my whole life. It's a dream of any kid to grow up and be able to play at Indiana or any Division I college at that. But growing up here, I know it's huge to the community and to IU fans all over the country. So I'm really excited and can't wait to see a lot of my friends and family here when we come running out."

On his pick to win the slam dunk contest:
"I have a feeling that Christian is going to break out something. He doesn't really dunk a lot in practice but I think he can get up a little bit so I'll go with him."

    Derek Elston
On coming to Hoosier Hysteria as a high school senior last year and then getting to be a part of it this year:
"When I was in high school and I came to this, it was a lot of fun just being in the stands. I remember the one of the years that I came here, they had an R&B artist come in and I always enjoyed the dunk contests. But now that I'm finally here, it's going to be unreal. I can't even explain what it's going to be like to run through the doors and see 17,000 people cheering for us. It's going to be ridiculous."

On his pick to win the slam dunk contest:
"I would probably go with myself, then Christian and maybe even Steven Gambles. Steven has told me he can do some dirty stuff, I just haven't seen it. But he's the best jumper on the team but I still like my odds."

On his pick to win the three-point contest:
"I would probably go with either Matt Roth or Jordan Hulls. You might even see me jump in there a little bit because I feel like I can do it all."

    Tom Pritchard
On any advice he will give to the freshmen before Friday night:
"I'll just tell them to savor the experience. It's a great time for them to get out on Assembly Hall in front of people. The fans are really going to enjoy it and we are going to enjoy it so I think it's going to be a lot of fun."

On his pick for the slam dunk contest:
"I don't have anything planned. But I think my favorite right now would have to be Steven Gambles."

On his favorite in the three-point contest:
"I would definitely go with the veteran, Matt Roth. He was my roommate last year and I think he's going to bring home the title. I have all the confidence in the world in him.
