Park Ridge, Illinois - Indiana senior D.J. White was named Preseason All-Big Ten and the Hoosiers were picked to finish second, the conference announced this morning at its annual Basketball Media Day.

White, who averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks, was joined by four other seniors on the Big Ten's Preseason All-Conference team. Illinois center Shaun Pruitt, Ohio State guard Jamar Butler, Michigan State guard Drew Neitzel and Penn State guard/forward Geary Claxton joined White as all-league honorees. Neitzel was chosen as Preseason Player of the Year.

The Hoosiers, who return three starters and boast a top-10 recruiting class, were chosen behind preseason favorite Michigan State and ahead of Ohio State, who was selected to finish third.

Indiana was ranked ninth in the first ESPN/USA Today coaches poll released on Friday. IU also was chosen 11th in the preseason by CBS SportsLine.com, 10th by Lindy's and 10th by The Sporting News.
