BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - For the second straight year, Indiana junior forward D.J. White has been named to the Big Ten Conference's Preseason All-League Team, the league announced at its annual media day on Oct. 29. White is joined on the preseason team by Wisconsin forward Alando Tucker, Iowa's Adam Haluska, Ohio State's Greg Oden and Penn State's Geary Claxton.

This marks the second time in four years that a Hoosier has earned back-to-back preseason all-league honors. Guard Bracey Wright was recognized prior to the 2003-04 and 2004-05 campaigns.

White was sidelined for a majority of the 2005-06 season with two foot injuries, but he still averaged 9.2 points and six rebounds in limited action. The 6-9 White earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors in 2004-05 for his 13.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He led al Big Ten freshmen in scoring and blocks (2.2 bpg), and his .572 field goal percentage is ninth in single-season school history.

White's productive off-season included stints as a counselor at the All-American Camp in Indianapolis and Michael Jordan's Flight School. Indiana Head Coach Kelvin Sampson knows that White's efforts will pay dividends this season.

"D.J. is hungry and excited about the season," Sampson said. "He was here almost all summer, and he looked at the camps as an opportunity to test himself against some of the best players in the country. D.J. needs to prove himself to D.J., and he looks good from what I have seen."

Sampson is opening the Hoosiers' Nov. 2 practice to IU students. Practice begins at 4 p.m. at Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall. Students should enter the arena through the south loge doors or the north loge doors and sit in the west stands.

The Hoosiers tip off the 2005-06 exhibition season on Sunday, Nov. 5 against North Dakota at 1 p.m. at Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall. Following the exhibition finale on Nov. 10 against Indianapolis (8 p.m.), Indiana begins the regular season at Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off at Conseco Fieldhouse at Indianapolis. IU meets Lafayette at 9 p.m. on Nov. 13 and faces either Notre Dame or Butler on Nov. 14. Should Indiana prevail on Nov. 13 and 14, it moves on to the championship round Nov. 22 and Nov. 24 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

IU fans shave an opportunity to purchase tickets for the Nov. 13-14 NIT Season Tip-Off, the Dec. 22 Indiana-IUPUI men's basketball game at Conseco Fieldhouse, the men's basketball Mini Series (Dec. 17 Southern Illinois, Dec. 20 Western Michigan and Dec. 30 Ball State - individual game tickets for these games also available) and 2006-07 women's basketball season tickets.
