    Indiana Game Notes Get Acrobat Reader

    Indiana begins its 111th season of college basketball and will play the second of two exhibition games when it hosts Ferris State, an NCAA Division II school from Big Rapids, Mich., on Monday night. Including exhibition games, IU will play eight games in 23 days during the month of November to start the season. On two occasions, the Hoosiers will play three games in less than a week, starting with three games in five days from Nov. 12-16. The Cream and Crimson will open the regular season on November 12 at home against Florida Gulf Coast. Monday's exhibition game can be heard on the IU Radio Network and can be seen LIVE only on the internet at (subscription required). The game will re-air on the Big Ten Network at 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

    Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and is entering his third year with the Hoosiers. Has is 206-142 all-time as a head coach, collecting his 200th career win last year agaisnt Pitt at Madison Square Garden as part of the Jimmy V Classic. He came to Indiana from Marquette where he was 190-96 (66.4) in nine seasons and made five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2003 Final Four.

    Bill Sall is in his 10th year as the head coach at Ferris State, compiling an overall mark of 122-121. Ferris State played an exhibition game on October 28 and defeated Aquinas, 69-39. Preseason Division II Player of the Year Justin Keenan led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Daniel Sutherlin added 18 points.

    The Bulldogs return two all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players (Keenan and guard Darien Gay), along with seven letter winners from a 16-13 team.

    Indiana forced 28 turnovers which turned into 41 Hoosier points and the home team went on to defeat Franklin, 89-37, in an exhibition Wednesday night at Assembly Hall. Sophomore Christian Watford led the way with 25 points in 24 minutes, making nine of 11 field goal attempts. Sophomore Maurice Creek had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals, and junior Daniel Moore added 12 points and three steals making six of seven shots from the floor.

    The Hoosiers shot 61.3% from the field and outscored the Division III Grizzlies 43-13 in the second half. Indiana had a 54-18 advantage in the paint and a 19-4 lead in second chance points. In addition, Indiana outrebounded Franklin 42-20.

    Ten players recorded double digit minutes tonight and scored tonight. Sophomore Derek Elston had nine points and six rebounds and added two blocked shots. Freshman Victor Oladipo also had nine points and two steals and senior Jeremiah Rivers had six points and three rebounds in 13 minutes.

    The Hoosiers will play their final exhibition game on Monday, November 8 when they host Ferris State at 7 p.m. in Assembly Hall. The season opener is November 12 against Florida Gulf Coast.
